Love This!

These canoes have been sitting at a local park for about two weeks with NO lock/security. They are being used in the morning for classes for children. Love small town values & virtues!

Cute Fella

Found this guy at local watering hole. He is enjoying all the downed trees near the waters edge.

Stigma(ta)

A friend suggested that those who are depressed need to "pick themselves up, dust themselves off, and get on with living." I reminded him that true depression is a medical illness and that he would not have the same sage advice for a loved-one with cancer. I believe the vegetative symptoms of depression make it quite easy to stigmatize a medical condition as an issue of motivation & character. Oh well, a construct we can't escape from...especially since the mainstreaming, watering-down process of mental illness.

Slow day in my relative wilderness today...a mallard hen with a few of her (growing) goslings!

Up the Irons! SGS! & Carry on....

Donations

You can now donate to the Relative Wilderness School via this blog and my website. Hope someday to get this thing off the ground and provide "scholarships" for people without the resources to attend yet still have to struggle with mental health issues. Usually, kindness of this kind can begin a form of recovery. Thanks!

My relative wilderness was active this morning.  Saw a pair of wood ducks, geese, mallards, deer, turtle, osprey, and an eagle! Not bad for one morning hike!

Spider Sense Tingling

This morning - among the news of the day re Europe, economy, Syria, election, etc. - having a sense of foreboding. Perhaps related to preamble and the unseen, unknown, capricious enemy?? Eh, just a random thought....

Proper title?

So was thinking to change to The Relative (E=mc2) Wilderness Educational Institute. Too much? The focus will be on the education of wilderness skills, techniques, and tactics and their correlation to individual mental health. Ideas??!!

Guilt Article

Great article on guilt and why so many of us may struggle with it. Again, stressing the importance - for a select few of us - of TR2W and perhaps some of the benefits to people dealing with self-guilt and shame.

Let me know what you think! I do believe I will research this more and see if it can correlate to The Relative (E=mc2) Wilderness School.

WiOTG/TR2W Voting Day!

Great day to recall a governor!

Preamble to Relative Wilderness School; 1st Draft

Preamble
Ever since 9/11 there appears to have been an increased awareness of overall individual and community "preparedness."  This domain includes survival skills, prepping, bug-out-bags, evacuation plans, etc.  This trend may have cloistered itself around the need or desire to be prepared for emergencies and/or catastrophic events (i.e. a terrorist nuclear or biological attack on the home land; a natural disaster; the end of the Mayan calendar in 2012; a "Zombie" pandemic; SHTF; TEOTWAWKI).  Perhaps, it stems from our human nature and it's need for an identifiable enemy as opposed to an unseen, unknown, and capricious enemy. Regardless, the trend is here and many people have utilized it to focus on increased Self-reliance.
Survival and preparedness are about getting back to the basics.  TR2 W is about getting back to the mental health basics.
